Faultless Starch/Bon Ami’s manufacturing facility has been located in the Central Industrial District since 1887. It has lived through significant natural disasters, such as the flood of 1951, and the Central Industrial District fire of July 18, 1998. Hoffman Cortes was awarded the contract for this design bid build project to rehabilitate the historic Sewell Paint and Glass building into Faultless / Bon Ami’s new headquarters. Incorporating sustainability, Hoffman Cortes’ construction management team reused materials salvaged from the project including the timbers and the floor boards in this 100-year-old building to build a new staircase and architectural panels, repair the floors, and salvaged bricks for use for repair and new walls. In May 2009, Faultless Starch / Bon Ami moved its headquarters to its newly renovated 44,000-square-foot Sewell Paint and Glass building in the West Bottoms. This five story building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was brought back to life to house this iconic local company.
